Join EGA and BiG In Our Fall Coffee Talk!

EGA and BiG (Brookwood in Georgetown) are partnering for our first coffee talk together.  We have asked some BiG moms to join us so we can begin a community of sharing information with help from some great mentors! We foresee a small group format, so it’s more of a conversation and easy for all to participate.

Here are some of the questions/topics that have come to mind to ask our mentors:

“What were your challenges at the elementary school level?”

“What are your challenges of a mother of a special needs daughter?”

“What was it like for your child to transition to Junior High? to High School?”

“What did you do to help your child become more independent?”

“How did you know a group home was right for your kiddo?”

These are just a few of the questions that all of us might have.  If you have more, send them to us!!

We really, really want you to participate so please come!

It will be fun and informative to share ideas with others who have gone through the process of rearing a special needs child into adulthood.

We are so lucky to live in a caring community.  Please join us for our first BIG/EGA Coffee on Saturday August 6th at 9:30 am at the Georgetown Healthcare Circle of Care Community Rooms, Room A on Williams Drive.  RSVP to exceptionalgeorgetown@gmail.com so we can make sure we have enough coffee and tasty treats!

More exciting news from the Palace Education program!

For the first time, we are offering a 5 week summer program for children on the Autism spectrum!

This inaugural class will meet on Tuesdays and Thursday evenings from July 5th through August 4th from 6-7 PM. The class will work on acting exercises, social skills, public speaking, and performance. Our class will culminate in a performance for family and friends on the last day of class.

This very special workshop is limited to 8 children who are going into 3rd-5th grade for the 2016-2017 school year. If you know a child who qualifies, please have them enroll immediately! (You can register here.)

This workshop is provided at NO COST to families through a generous grant from Georgetown Seeds of Strength. We would like to thank that organization as well as the Georgetown Health Foundation for all of the wonderful programs we will be able to offer this year for our patrons with special needs. Keep an eye out for more great programming that will be starting this Fall.

I Live Here, I Give Here

Exceptional Georgetown Alliance (EGA) has served the special needs community since 2008 helping to fill the need for extracurricular activities and camps for special needs students.  All abilities are welcome.  No one is turned away based on their abilities or medical needs.  Scholarships help those who need financial assistance.

“I would appreciate any help I can get since I’m a single mom I could never be able to afford this (camp.)”

“My daughter has grown so much because of the adaptive sports teams EGA offers. She plays with many different children, learns new skills, and she learns how to be a good teammate. She and I have met a lot of extraordinary people because of EGA!”

This year EGA is a proud participant in Amplify Austin’s “I live here, I give here” campaign. We need your support.  Whether it’s $20 or $200, every amount counts.  Our goal is to raise $1,000 for camp scholarships and equipment replacement.  Please schedule your donation today and help exceptional people live extraordinary lives.
